SUGAR COOKIES

Mix together thoroughly:        2 cups butter
                                                2 cups sugar
                                                4 eggs

Stir in:                                     4 TBS milk or cream
                                                4 tsp vanilla

Sift together and stir in          5 cups flour
                                                4 tsp cream of tartar
                                                2 tsp baking soda
                                                1 tsp salt

Chill dough. Roll very thin. Place on a lightly greased baking
sheet. Your can decorate with candies and sugar before baking
or ice and decorate after.

Bake at 425 for 5 to 7 minutes.

This is a recipe from the 1950 Betty Crocker's Cookbook.
This was the one used by Betty Vaughan.

Icing for the cookies is a confectioners' sugar and milk mix and colored
what ever color you want.
